Gemma Said >/bin/grep: Permission Denied >/bin/awk: Permission Denied >got "bash: /bin/mount: Permission Denied" I looks like you have either knocked out the exec (x) permissions on the /bin directory (check with ls -ld /bin ... hmm maybe you can't ls is in /bin) or all / some of the executable files contained in /bin so that you cant exec binaries (have you been doing chmod's recently) ? Or possibly (if you have edited the fstab file recently ) then maybe you have taken out defaults option (which includes the exec option (which allows executables to be executed on the file system being mounted)). Problem is you maybe in a catch 22 because you cant use the tools in /bin to re-enable / check the tools in /bin. You will probably need to use your RH boot CD and boot in rescue mode, but dont chroot immediately otherwise you will be back to square one. Rescue will mount your existing file systems as a branch off the rescues root. so you will have to issue commands relative to its new position. If you havent got much you want to keep (or you have a good backup) you could take the easy path and re-install, however a little time with a rescue disk is always good investment for the future. Hopefully you will be able to look back, laugh and say "I know how to get out of that one !". :-) Tom. Information in this message is confidential and may be legally privileged.
