Chief, I'm glad to hear you say this and can honestly only let you know that as a fellow mortal, I think you're on to a good thing here. We are definitely not going to be here for long and providing we're lucky enough to be able to keep the wolves from the door, investing a little (or even a lot) of our precious remaining time and resources in the things we love can only be a good thing.Treating yourself to the indispensable tools of the trade (in modern society a smartphone is a wonderful thing to have!) is a good idea. Get yourself a new laptop as well - it's not like you're having a midlife crisis and blowing the nestegg on a new sports car after all. Especially if you're looking to spend more time socialising with the missus rather than lurking in a room full of computers all the time (I too am guilty of this) and a nice new gadget will help, go for it.In much the same spirit I grabbed an opportunity a few months ago to fulfil a life long ambition that had escaped me until now - I'm not getting any younger (or fitter) myself. After all these years I'm finally surfing :]
Now I am impressed. Not for me though. My old phone, not a smart phone, stays on once I have started it up, and remains on until I turn it off, or the battery dies.
This new smart phone, (A71), turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity. This baffles me. If I am out and about with the phone, and someone tries to ring me, or text me, how will I know? If the phone has turned itself off, it won't ring, right?
I know that I am new to all this, but so far I cannot find any way to make the phone stay turned on until further notice.
