Were they open on the main PC when it died? A lot of editing apps will maintain a lockfile of some kind and don't like you editing the same file twice. If that is not the case then we need some more information. 1. ls -l on one of the problem files. 2. create a new file in the same directory and ls -l that. 3. How are you mounting the network files?
