Once I know what the desktop uses. > > Kind regards, > > Julian > If you have a root password, you can indeed log in as root, and use the 'usermod' command to change UID (this will fix all permissions in /home folders too). If not, find an install CD or sysrescueCD (on a USB stick works fine) and chroot into your old system, and you can perform the 'usermod' from there. Good luck! Michael.
