Why doesn't Ubuntu do what Debian does and release a "netist" disk - the Debian one is only 150MB or so. Everything else is pulled off the 'net as required, rather then download everything under the Sun, requiring GB of downloads, a DVD burner and more time...
Then they could have one 'base' release with the various flavours 'Studio', etc. as package suggestions to be loaded after you've got the basics...
