Re: [LUG] creating a mini-LUG

Is it hi-jacking this thread a touch to mention that I am going to soon
be pushing mine, and a couple of others, attempt at resurrecting an
Exeter University Students LUG at some point?
It existed a couple of years ago but fell on it's face and now I'm
picking it up again, after failing at the end of last University year
due to the work involved for exams etc. I'm starting a PhD in Computer
Science in two weeks so have 3 more years to get something sorted :-)
We have a website and mailing list (http://exeslug.trudgian.net or
http://exeslug.lug.org.uk) and hope to be snaring several linux using
first years when they arrive in Exeter. They will of course be directed
towards DCLUG too.
To be honest I see an EXESLUG working as a mainly social group at first,
but I'd hope that I could act as a point of contact to arrange some
EXESLUG/DCLUG events at the University in future. I believe Nick Murison
did similar in the past. It really would be nice to create a sustainable
University LUG. I hope that we can.
