Nope, and erm nope....

I don't consider second HDDs to be acceptable for backing up my personal data. 
I want something I can put it, backup to and then take out to a remote 
location. A computer/host on the net is a complete no go for backup of about 
12Gb over an ADSL connection, even before thinking about the cost of a host 
with 12Gb of space.

Happily I've managed to get tob setup and working fine for my purposes so I'm 
all happy now :-)
