-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 How do I find where a USB modem has been attached under /dev? The modem I won at St.Austell doesn't seem to be recognised automatically by Mandrake 9 - RedHat did appear to find the modem but couldn't dial out. (That could be down to having another winmodem already configured.) The system isn't online and only installed today so where do I start looking for the USB modem? usbview doesn't recognise it but does list it. dmesg and /var/log/messages show connection and disconnection but only Mandrake Control Centre (hardrake) identifies the modem rather than an unknown device / unclaimed device. I'm not sure how to read the /proc/bus/usb listings to work out which /dev/ the modem will respond to. I've tried /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 and others - very hit and miss. KPPP offers lot of options but none of the alternatives can provide KPPP with access to the modem. Any ideas? (Anyone else who won the same modem at St. Austell have it working?)
