First I've heard.
Most Lasers if not natively supported can act and appear like an HP
Laserjet, the HL-2250DN is supported by Linux out of the box, I didn't
even download a custom driver, although the Brother website does provide
ones for download (rpm & deb).
Obviously, check with the manufacturer that Linux is supported, don't
blindly buy something and try and get it to work.
I am going back a long time, but I am sure that I can remember the
advice to avoid Brother printers because they did not work with Linux.
Still, it seems that is all changed now,
