I have a small HP Mini laptop too, which I use when I go away for a short break somewhere. I have checked, and that too will not display the sticks, except the one that works. And the external HD, of course. It's very difficult to see what could be the problem here although it's clearly likely to be either: A: you have genuinely somehow wiped all but one but of your USB drives B: there's a common problem between your two linux systems B seems considerably more likely but who knows? Ideally you'd have a different known good system to check the USB sticks on. Test to see if there is a common thread somewhere - are the "blank" drives actually blank or are your linux systems simply not reading them correctly? Is it only effecting MBR partitioned disks or GPT? Missing filesystem support? Also both of your system are running old kernels - it's not necessarily connected of course but there's no good reason to be using stuff that conservative when MX are shipping considerably newer kernels by default. Cheers
No the sticks are not empty. Anyway, the display should still show the 'empty' contents of the disk.
Kernels. I realise that they are somewhat old now, especially the one on the desktop. However, I plan to get a brand new desktop computer soon. I realise that MX includes the facility to upgrade the kernel. However, I have never upgraded a kernel ever, so I am too nervous to do that. Anyway, the kind of computing I do, I don't think it matters if the kernel is a bit old. Or is that a wrong point of view?
