However that is how all display models at PC World etc. are used.
(As battery life is always limited, and anti-theft (?) deterrent.)
I have run an old circa 1998 Dell laptop minus battery* for some years.
It is just on power and collects a back up of all incoming emails to
hard disc under Linux OpenSUSE . On morning, off at nights.
*Also sometimes I have run with no battery and no hard disc on Live
Linux DVD, when demonstrating to others.
