Certainly there are advantages to having the two together (cost reductions, etc.) but equally, there can be advantages when using two companies; Any problems with one side that would force you to look elsewhere for service provision don't impact on the other side and therefore there's no unnecessary service disruption(1). It'll usually cost a bit more, I know, but I'm happier with that.
