This has proved to be very interesting and informative. Here in Holsworthy we are supposed to be getting an improved internet service soon, so perhaps things have started happening already. Anyway, I have decided that a lot of my problems are caused by contention issues. My only comment is that this has been happening quite recently, say in the last four or five months. Previously it was fairly stable with very little change in download speeds at any time. Neil
Just to show how baffling this all is. Today, Wed 23rd October I tested again via speedtest.org 3:48 pm Download speed given as 2.96 Mb/s (that is not a typo) So I switched off the router and left it for a while. With the router back on I tested it again. 4:46 pm Download speed is now given as 12.03Mb/s.If anyone can explain that I would be very grateful. I can't see that the contention can have changed that much in an hour.
