Get in-touch with your current provider - they might (and will if O2) unlock the phone free of charge.

By using an affiliate link we both get a free fiver, but do check you're in a good O2 area first. I've found Exeter to be particularly bad for O2, but I have a good 3G signal on my local mast half way down the A38.
Right now the best data network is probably Three though.
