And there are issues with some SD cards - some simply won't work, some will give you filesystem corruption errors (I have one of those - a transcend class 6, but others using the same card have no issues at all!)
Best to stick to a bog-standard card and just put it up with the fact that it's somewhat sub-optimal and unlikely to change much...

I used this (http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals) to select which sd card to get and got a sandisk as most sandisk sd cards seem to work. When I have tested my one, I will let you know if OK.
