Get memtest86+ and leave it running all night. You can probably install it and boot it by selecing it from the LILO or GRUB menu - or get something like the GParted CD-ROM and boot off that which contains memtest86+
Leave it running overnight if you can.
It's not a fool-proof test, but it's a start.
