I have joined the UK TUg (tex user group) they run courses but we need somewhere down here to run one and enough people interested and willing to attend a course before they will consider coming down here to run a session, i tried to e-mail South Devon College, however it was answered by a drone who can't read properly as I was directed to a page on their site on computer courses (word etc) and no mention in the reply of TeX or similar. (typical eh) You can get books on the subject too however it's well documented anyway. I would argue its pretty easy to learn if you are able to learn HTML or similar then you should be Ok. there is a LOT more to learn than in HTML but its a mark up language i think so learn the tags and how to arrange them then you are fine, you can learn as you go along or learn for what you need it for.
