Fake RAID implies the RAID calculations are done by the host CPU, not the RAID controller. In any case for all but high end RAID hardware you are almost certainly better-off configuring it as a standard IDE controller and using software RAID. Because disk IO isn't the bottleneck it once was for general purpose computing, and RAID adds complexity you probably don't need.
