Maybe it's mplayer just looking at /dev/dvd and bypassing fstab. I believe that mplayer accesses the DVD drive directly rather than mounting the disc and reading the files. On Sat, 2010-01-30 at 10:06 +0000, Rob Beard wrote:Have you actually got an entry for /dev/dvd in /dev?Not on my desktop (where I am at the moment) - I have links from dvd2, dvd3, dvdrw2, also cdrom2 ditto, and also scd0, scd1 which are not links. I'll have a look in my laptop. But why do other dvds mount and offer a window of options?
Other discs would probably automount as there should be an entry in fstab pointing probably to something like /dev/scd0.
I'm not sure if it's possible to override where mplayer looks for the DVD in the configuration file.
