i disagree, my collection used to be @ 320 kb/s and sounded nearly as bad on a decent system, that's why its now flac.Depends on the bitrate. 128kb/s is quite noticeable; 320kb/s just isn't.
its not a matter of being conned, if you can hear the difference yourself its not a con.I seem to recall hearing that online hi-fi forums banned discussion of double-blind trials. Presumably they don't like hearing evidence that they've been conned.
That's what HiFi used to mean - High Fidelity - as close an approximation to the original sound as possible.

play the lowest note on a bass guitar (40hz) and most modern speakers dont even flutter
well mine do,
Almost all listeners claimed greater volume/clarity and depth of field for the missions as they blur pop music giving it a more solid feel
