Single giant UDP packet...However in this case, I'd go for asymetric routing - the other parts of the 3-way handshake were carried out by phone and voice...
As such they are comparing Apples and Oranges. One of their systems was send and forget, the other had a reliable transport. With a 55% packet loss rate, they should be using multiple pigeons to be reasonably confident of success.
"Given time, avian carriers are self-replicating" ;-)The whole thing was purely to highlight Telkom.co.za's really bad services. Not only are their ADSL products woefully slow compared to elsewhere, internally it's grossly oversubscribed from what I'd heard.
From their website:
Telkom's stand alone ADSL services are available in 3 speed offerings namely: * Fast DSL up to 384kbps * Faster DSL up to 512kbps * Fastest DSL up to 4096kbps Wow - they consider "fast" to be 384Kb/sec. Upstream is 128Kb/sec. Gordon -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
