It was trialled in 1 or 2 areas but many virgin customers (from their own newsgroups and forums) discovered they were also being restricted in this way. > Everyone has a daily threshold dependent on time of day and which > package you are on. > > Its closer to several gig not megs > > The throttle period is usually 3 hours not three days. > > Usually, unless they consider you have been using it too much. After downloading an iso and then struggling the next day to download a game demo the virgin user I know who has been on virgin for the last 2 years rang up after 2 days thinking thee was a network problem. He was then told he was being throttled back. The reasonong is go over the daily limit, restriction put in place at peak time. If you try to download a file during this restriction perioed then this again gets added to the restriction period and total is combined. 'up to 3 days' has been experienced by lots of customers. It is in their t&c's > I've recently switched to the 50 Mbits service and they don't yet > throttle people. > > I expect it may come in at some time or other but currently its a free > for all > > ISP's monitoring traffic ? They also make big noises about unlimited allowance but only on the max package. I have a 40gig monthly allowance. I've never gone over but if I download a distro on DVD then video streaming becomes shocking afterwards.
