Subject: [Ksp-public] UK software patent test case Date: Fri, 21 Mar 2008 11:55:10 +0100 Hi, The UK government will appeal against a decision to allow a pure software patent (a Symbian patent). Here is BBC coverage: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7307375.stm This case will be a test case for the UK, and for Europe, since the UK has been leading the fight over what is actually patentable or not, the so-called "subject matter" debate. We'll be making a UK petition and website for a campaign to support the UKIPO's appeal (the UK patent office is the good guy!) More news later. -Pieter Hintjens -- Neil Williams ============= http://www.data-freedom.org/ http://www.nosoftwarepatents.com/ http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/
