However you can install Open Office to a usb stick. (if you've already been told all this I apologise). There is infact a usb stick manufacturer called disgo who put out a 2GB stick which has a data partition of 1.5...? and a program partition with apps for installing oOo onto it and putting start icons in your system tray for installed software. I seem to recall they also had tweaked versions of firefox, opera and others. The url is http://www.mydisgo.com/, but I've not looked up the product.
