To get permission to carry out commands where it says "permission not denied" just put "sudo" infront of the command - it gives you temporary "super user" privileges for that command. If you want to carry out a series of commands as super user I recommend sudo -s you'll then be asked for your password and become the "root/super user" until you give the command exit at the terminal.
