I've just installed kubuntu. You should have no problems with your net connection, any gnome apps you can get using adept. To get adept to show all available applications you need to edit sources.list. The list of repositories needs to have a couple of entries uncommented. It's in /etc/apt and you should be able to do the edit using the file browser. If not sudo vim /etc/apt/sources.list then enter "i" to be in inser/editt mode. Remove the "#" symbols from the repository paths, hit esc to exit edit mode and the shift ZZ to save. It's true that the partition tool isn't as good as mandriva's, but it did spot free space on my windows partition automaticaly. So if that's what you want no problems. I wanted to install in the partitions used by kubuntu 6.6. This used three partitions, sda 5, 6 and 7, 6.10 uses 2. Just select the partitions you want to use on the screen that displays all the partitions in graphical mode and reformat them. kubuntu will do the rest - this case changing the three partitions, boot, root and swap, into two - swap and root. My problem is with setting up samba. The kde manager shows all the set up prompts greyed out, even when I enter administrator mode. I've tried installing other kde packages that might make it work, like kdenetwork, but no go. Anyone have any ideas?
