Came back with the LILO version info and the same errors/warnings as 
before, ie the COMPACT warning and the 'Fatal: raid_setup: 
stat("/dev/hda")' error.
I would paste the error itself but for some reason it decided this time 
the windows drive was read only - I tried remounting it as per your 
earlier instructions (which worked earlier this evening) but this time 
it said '/mnt/hda7 does not exist'.  Anyway that's a side issue :)
