They have sacrificed security for ease of use, so long
as people make
an informed choice about it that's fine with me. I
just ensure PHP is
heavily restricted and avoided where possible.

Ok i've got ubuntu working now and am learning the
commands etc.
would you use perl instead of php i take it?
Isn't there a way of using a security oriented config
file in php (turning off global vars i think..?)
Would doing this suffice?
