I may be being a bit thick here, but isn't the broadcast supposed to be 
on the same subnet?  Both these have IPs on 10.0.12.* but subnet for the 
B'cast is 10.0.15.*

Am I barking up the wrong tree?

PS Sorry Alex, the Winblows version of Thunderbird replies from the 
default address while the Linux version replies from the one the mail 
was addressed to.  Typicaly Linux makes sense whereas Windows doesn't!
