Adding the ~ before the user name worked, should have seen that myself.

Usually http://hostname/~username/ will get the public_html directory of
"username".
Also sometimes the default website may forbid the listing of directories. Try calling the file something like "index.html" to be on the safe side, or refer to it by the full URL.
