Thanks for the suggestions guys but i'm not 100% sure we're quite on the right track of what i'm trying to do! As far as the windows side of it goes, i DO have extra software installed quite nicely. NX Client. Works an absolute treat when i connect to my desktop machine and according to windows control panel takes up a mere 9.36MB. The bit i'm struggling with is how to set up the x server environment on my server without a keyboard, mouse and screen attached. As one of you said, i could do it the other way round, have the xserver at the windows end using cygwyn and just remote the apps on the server but the last time i had cygwyn running under windows it took up 100's of mb's which i didn't really consider to be thin client fodder :) Any thoughts on the server setup then? Thanks, Martin. On Thu, June 2, 2005 11:21, Steve Marvell said:

You can just: ssh -X user@host ... and then run the X clients and they'll jsut appear, not --display or anything. Steve
