What about a forum, instead of a list? A forum could be really good. Firstly, anyone could post on anything, and a reduction in the amount of email would be a real blessing. It'd also be the list archive as well, because all the posts would be archived as they were when posted.
Urk, no no no, forums are just slow nasty and irritating, and it isn't as if this list is particularly high traffic anyway, maybe 20 mails to it on a good day, at a rough guess. using email is IMO, far more convenient, and doesn't leave you waiting around for stuff to load.
