Given how far behind the Windows support of the Indo-European languages was compared to X - I don't buy the explanation. It is still easier to type German or French under X windows with a UK keyboard - than brave the MS way. I'm guessing Japanese techies don't care as much for some reason. As I said time to kick the Tokyo LUG list. I got the impression that Kanji future is in doubt because it just isn't as powerful a method for writing a language, although I guess technology just reveals the difference more and more - remember those old Chinese typewriters with hundreds of keys.
