Check that your ppp setup is becoming the default route to the outside world - KPPP has a setting under Gateway in the account settings that needs to be set to true - assign default gateway. Whilst you are connected, run these commands (as root) and post the output: /sbin/ifconfig /sbin/route > no outgoing connections work (not even DNS lookups).
