Try http://cr.yp.to/ I don't agree with everything Dan writes, but he is absolutely clear on the roles of different DNS servers, not least he uses two different programs, one to serve authoritative data, and one to resolve specific requests. I'm a radical, if we were starting again you wouldn't build a public root name server infrastructure, as it isn't really needed, and just sits around looking like a target. But then some people would have built a flat namespace (allegedly) and other radical variations, but DNS can wait till SMTP has been overhauled ;-) Simon -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQE+REWEGFXfHI9FVgYRAlmwAKCHbteh+uAbHVTjvIKFBOwle995rwCgtGsa p/mWaZU/hScfw9V2EewmCm0= =8bwj -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
