I've just given myself a headache trawling the web for information on laptops, and finding the majority of sites quite staggeringly awful! Even at the least-bad sites I'm not getting all the information I need. I'm looking for a Laptop to meet the best possible combination of the following criteria: * Affordable * Good-size screen; min 1024x768; pref better * Usable keyboard with trackpad - not a little knob amongst the keys * Warranty - preferably 3 years * No M$ tax * Decent weight and battery life * Ventilation at the back or sides (so it won't choke if run on a soft surface that would block any ventilation coming from below). Performance is not really an issue: I'm more than happy to sacrifice it for price and battery life. Expandability and devices are also unimportant - so long as it can take a PCMCIA card it can be networked to a desktop box with any necessary peripherals. Bearing that in mind, is there anywhere local[1] worth visiting, and does anyone have any recommendations?
