Mandrake used to recommend that at 7.2 and I did have a SoundBlaster card that failed to operate until P&P was disabled and the card I/O and IRQ configured manually using a DOS boot disc. (I think it happened to conflict with the network card).
dual boot (Windows/Linux) box where Windows is already installed, or should one deselect the BIOS option and then perform a clean install of both OS's?
Windows continued to operate without P&P (although no subsequent hardware was added) until finally erased, for good.
