If everyone on the list did i think Devon and Cornwall could qualify as one of the most linux friendly places on earth :) Lee (Linux User 212958)I'm user 188377, and looking at the list for devon theres quite a few names I recognise
Note As of 2000. Population of devon = 1,087,273 (http://www.devon.gov.uk/dris/demog/dv_pop95.html) As of 1991 population of cornwall = 472,000 (http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/Cornwall/#Population) Therefore Population of d&c = 1,559,273 Anyone got any later figures? Linux users in devon: 69 cornwall: 23 devon & cornwall: 92 Density (people per million) Devon: 63.46 Cornwall: 48.73 Devon and cornwall together = 59.00 England: 82.59 UK: 83.61 (36th in world) Based on this, Devon would be ranked between Malta (currently 45th place) and Italy Cornwall would be ranked between Costa Rica (currently 53rd place) and Brazil D&C combined would be ranked between Italy (46th) and Latvia For D&C to be ranked higher then all other countries in the world (faroe isles being #1), there would need to be 2053 people registered between the two counties, 22.3 times as many as there are now. Even if non of the 94 subscribes to dclug were registered on linux counter, and everyone subscribed, that would increse the d&c total to 186. The users/million would increase to 119.29, ranking us Between australia (27th) and Germany. It would push the UK's pop/million up too, to 85.33. This would move the UK from 36th place, below france, to just edging them out for 35th. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
