you clever chap, thanks.  That killed it (suden disk thrash and appearance of 
soffice all over the place)

I've tried Netscape 6 on NT and it was a nice but obviously massive and 
ornamented browser, Mozilla on NT is OK, I've never started Netsape 6 or 
mozilla on the Linux side becuase I like Opera for heavy stuff and Konqueoror 
is a neat one for just reading pages.

I don't find either IMAP or LDAP support in Kmail here on SuSE 7.3, and given 
the choice I'd take LDAP first by a long way.  Although I'm impressed with 
how fast a script grepping a directory of text files with assorted email 
addresses in them can be.
