Yes - cable length is a killer for these technologies (and good quality cable is a fortune to buy) if you are sticking a big antenna in the roof stick the WAP up there too as close as possible but I also doubt it is needed. I have a mate with a company making big (like urm 4 foot long, and weather proofed, and surprisingly heavy) omnidirectional antennas Steve could shove in his loft, although by the time you've spent that much on an antenna (300 or 400 quid) I suspect you'd want to put it outside the roof tiles, as otherwise that kind of defeats the purpose. Costwise getting down the pub two small antennas one each end is probably more appropriate, they were building the big antennas with the hope of getting groups keen on providing commercial or community access groups interested. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQE/HReRGFXfHI9FVgYRAujHAJ40KqbSTAbmXTEzMmcwmtR92MdOBACghPt5 z4DWy7zNQ30CN5/m8+OjK10= =LuZn -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
