Other way round I'd say: ln -s /usr/opt /opt
(Linux/unix is nicely awkward sometimes it seems :-))
I'd also say that if you already have a /opt directory then it will cause
problems - as someone else said: create the /usr/opt, move all the /opt
stuff into it; nuke /opt and then create the symlink.
