Re [LUG] Easy Jitsi??
Perhaps, and 'at last'.

Wen I was trying to get small firms to use Linux systems (opensource or
paid) for the 'renegades' who left our "company" (my employers at that
time) and set up their own small enterprises, this would have been
really useful; as it would be more cost effective for startups.

The existence of the "company" as a totally MS house using MS Exchange
and Outlook, caused them (The renegades) severe problems as files from
Outlook would not behave at that time with clients like Thunderbird. So
they all bought into the MS ecosystem. So they could tender to and get
work from the former employer and 'exchange files / drawings etc'.

Had this been available then (and a very big assumption - that I would
have understood how to set it up for them), it certainly could have
worked on a 'free basis with five persons' as usually they would have
only two or three 'employees'. Wife as MD, then main persons as
'consultant employee', an maybe one to two other 'consultant employees
employees.
For legal and insurance reasons it was always necessary for the 'doer'
to be an 'employee' with the MD as another person.
Disclosure: I was consultant employee, wife was MD who could in case of
dispute sue the 'employer' (for payment or redress) without affecting my
position as a 'consultant'.

The major opposition to Linux was:
ONE) Integration with customer's MS Outlook and systems.

TWO) A "free" (Gratis) Linux bookkeeping system capable of working with
UK & EU VAT, there were some paid solutions, but a few of these
companies withdrew from market place.

Similar to MS with their withdrawal from accountancy/bookkeeping at a
small cost, which left hundreds of (SMA) USA firms with major problems.
(MS Abandonware as the returns to MS were a lot less than they thought
they would get. The entrenched MS accountancy firms had better relations
and integration into the USA tax system

Windows paid solutions were readily available (Sage, Quickbooks, etc.)
and still with USA competitors going strong. Little 'abandonware'.

I wish "grommunio" luck, they have already changed their name to avoid a
'merciless lawsuit' from Instagram. Settled out of court by mutual
discussion.
