I think you need to ask him "why?" first before assigning motive. My first question "Can I opt to have my whole medical record included?" (the answer seems to be no - not that mine is that interesting). I don't think the SCR will replace explaining your own history to medical staff. Not least family history can't be comprehensive without storing all your relatives data (included those who already died of something of interest), and I don't think that is likely to be stored. Pity one of the benefits could be finding out if your family have an unusual problems with conditions that families tend not to discuss over the Xmas turkey. But yes, I've been in hospital with a very sick relative whose 2 volume set of rather involved medical notes had been temporarily misplaced. Then again not clear if the SCR would have been comprehensive enough here to instigate treatment without consulting with the specialists - at least my relative was conscious and could name the relevant specialists. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
