Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) is a dynamic, highly innovative,
independent and impartial provider of scientific research and advice on
the marine environment.

PML seeks a computing systems administrator to support Linux computers
in our scientific environment. You will maintain and assist with upgrade
of a network of Linux workstations, a Linux-based file server and disk
farm, and liaise with our High Performance Computing community and
equipment manufacturers to ensure availability of a compute cluster used
for model runs. You will also assist with installation and investigation
of geospatial software to support OGC compliant servers to support a new
European funded project on interoperability.

You must be a highly motivated computing administrator with sound
experience in Linux/UNIX systems administration. You must have
experience in Red Hat Enterprise, Solaris, Shell Scripting and Perl,
additionally some experience with C, C++, IDL, Java, preferably in a
Unix environment and ideally knowledge of SQL, XML and website
scripting. With excellent interpersonal and team working skills, you
will work in a community of 6 computing support staff and with 20 remote
sensing scientists, modellers, bio-optical oceanographers and computer
programmers.
