[LUG]Re: Tap tap upgrade glitched

This is common for the first shutdown / reboot after an upgrade. What I assume is happening is that something got upgraded that was actually running on the system, and it gets into an inconsistent hanging state when it tries to close down.

I did a similar upgrade this weekend when kubuntu started to nag me to upgrade to 24.04.1. Went mostly OK, but I had that same problem on the first shutdown. I just left it long enough in a hung state (30mins to be sure) to ensure that any disk writes had completed, and then just pressed and held the power button until it forced to shutdown. Then I booted back up again and everything is fine, reboots work etc...

Previous upgrades of Ubuntu on my computer, which seems to date in parts from 2017, have gone smoothly. This one from 22.04 to 24.04.1 hasn't, hangs on restarting.

Ah well, new install or new computer.
