I've got the latest LTS. Its ubuntu thats pushing the snaps.I have toyed with the idea of dropping all snaps and compiling the things I want from scratch. I have a feeling the re-inventing the wheel with Snap is merely going to follow a path of errors and fixes that many other package installs have followed and fixed - but with a lot more of my disk used for unnecessary repeated libraries.

If I'm right about that, of course some dependency gets pulled in when you install the LO packages. Maybe you want a more up to date Ff than your distro offers (IDK) but snap probably isn't the best way to go about it.
