If Linux fails compared with other operating systems, how come I am still using it in preference to the 14 years later? The simple fact is that I do not need those "missing" options he quotes and that is likely to be the same for most Linux users. On Wednesday, 9 February 2022, 17:52:04 GMT, Tom via list <list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
Agreed, I have been using Linux for longer than 14 years, on the desktop at least, it works fine, I can write documents, check e-mail,browse websites, and do the things I want to do.
I don't really play games that much, so happy with the system as it is. One of my argument for advocating use of free software is find out first what that person uses their computer for. It may be there are no suitable alternatives that run on a Linux based OS, so don't advocate, for what I use my system for would be fine for a lot of people who want to transition over.
People may want specific features in say Photoshop that are not available in gimp or other photo editing software (darktable is one I think), in which case move on and help someone else who may benefit.
