Thank you for courtesy of asking about problem.
No problem at present, other than slowness booting & shut down (old
rusting iron external USB HDD) Not sufficient to annoy me yet.
I have never found out how to use GRUB's rescue prompt.
(I have not learned this bit of CLI yet) My learning is not yet
sufficient in that department.
So then I either reboot
Choice of normal or: old working system as normal or 'safe boot'
OpenSUSE always has a boot option 'safe boot' which loads the drivers
and programs in a different order from normal boot and has never failed
to start system.
If it did, I would just do a fresh install.
KISS is my main way.
