Wonderful. I nearly lay on the floor with giggles. Say 25 years ago.
Employer bought very expensive software for analysing heat exchangers,
loaded on a 'spare' PC, with 'ID permit to use' dongle in USB
thumb-drive plugged in back. Dongle stopped that PC booting, so ritual
to startup without dongle, and then plug in dongle when a person wanted
program. To prevent problem dongle left on desk next to PC, as others
used it for other things.
Someone went off with the dongle.
