You could try deleting the .mozilla and .thunderbird profiles that are
there and replacing them with the saved copies...
Otherwise there is a profiles.ini file in .mozilla/firefox/ and
.thunderbird/ which points to the profile you would like (i.e
abcdefgh.default)
